More than 300 local organizations apply to be election observers

More than three hundred local organizations have applied to register with the Election Commission (EC) as election observers. Last Sunday was the last day to apply for registration as a local observer organization. The EC released the number of applications submitted by the deadline on Tuesday. Election Commission Secretariat Assistant Director (Public Relations) Md. Ashadul Haque said that the Election Commission received 318 applications by 5 pm on August 10, the deadline for registration as an election observer (local) organization. 13 applications were received after the deadline.

If a local organization wants to observe the election, it has to register with the EC. On July 18, the EC announced the cancellation of the registration of all 96 previously registered local election observer organizations. The EC took the initiative to register new observer organizations in view of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections. The EC invited applications for registration on July 27.
